CORRUPTION…INDIA

I understand there is a semblance of corruption in the entire world some more blatant than others.  India is not even in the top 10 corrupt counties but it is a corruption cancer that goes to the common man and cripples the movement of things to get done.  Whatever the trouble you are in with the police a bribe is required if you do not have the asking bribe they will settle for less, if you have nothing a high pressure tactic is used like impounding a vehicle if it is a traffic violation.  The litany of going to court and all that entails is used to scare making the accused to have to get the money from someone while police keep vehicle. 

A bribe is how the country of India runs anything that has to be done from governmental agencies which, move slower that a snail but sweetening the cost with a bribe and the snail moves like a cheetah.  The general public knows of no other way to get things done.  I am told there are laws on accepting a bribe but not enforced because everyone does it from the common man to many political leaders and parties. Although some are hidden most are done right out in public. 

Bribes are so common place they are used within family conflicts to tilt the injustice of one family to another.  There is no shame in this action that destroys a family unit shattering the once cohesive and loving members to be distrustful, deceivers fall into the trap of greed. 

India is in their election year the news is in dated with political parties’ and politicians accusing each other of corruption while news stories tell of the sins of some and their party.  This country lives on the edge of destruction as the cancer of corruption destroys a culture, a people and generations to come.  Children readily talk and know about bribes as easily as taking a breath.

Just this past week the AAP party bought into power by the COMMON MAN has resigned its governing position due to the squeeze tactics of the CONGRESS PARTY and BJP.  It went so far as NOT to allow the anti corruption bill introduced into the assembly.  It resulted in a free for all in the assembly.  Their actions do not serve the people and the COMMON MAN loses out.       

Mahatma Gandhi said “CORRUPTION AND HYPOCRISY OUGHT NOT TO BE INEVITABLE PRODUCTS OF DEMOCRACY, AS THEY UNDOUBTEDLY ARE TODAY.”  Is the India, Gandhi saw assassinated along with him?
