INFANT CHILD JESUS I have always wanted a statue of the INFANT CHILD JESUS and I am on search for the one I saw in a gift shop some twenty years back.  When I saw the statue I wanted it was about 18 inches high with the most amazing red colored layered dress  exquisitely  made with precious stones.  It just took my breath away however, at that time so did the price over 100$.  I would go to the shop and buy other things keeping an eye on my statue (that I was saving to buy) making sure it was still in the shop. One day while driving home I saw the shop window was bare and shop vacated.  I cannot tell you how sad and heartbroken I was.  To this day I keep searching but in the meantime I bought a small ceramic statue. BLESSINGS FROM POONDI Last week end I spent two days at my favorite retreat OUR LADY OF LOURDES BASILICA POONDI, South India and like every time I go there I experience a presence of God that surpasses all understanding with a grace, miracle and or blessing.  This time I was used as an instrument of God; this is what happen: When I arrived at basilica I went to my room and outside the door of the next room was a man whose leg was bandaged up from the knee to his toes.  His face was all cut up actually he looked a mess.  I smiled at him but he just looked at me and so I went in my room.  The next day while sitting in my room with the door open a young women said hello and I invited her in.  She spoke a little English and my friend interpreted the rest for her and me.  She was the wife of the man next store and she told the story of what happen to him.  He was in a bad bike accident which caused the mus...

DAYS GONE BY I am a baby boomer and my post war childhood was free, playful, and full of love.   My biggest decisions rested mostly on playtime and what’s there to eat.   My family of five consisted of my parents, me (the oldest) and two brothers.   My paternal grandparents lived on our three acre farm in a small home of their own.   My father worked two jobs, my grandpa took care of the farm, including chickens, a calf, Sam the lamb, two hunting beagles, a few goats and a huge garden.  My grandmother (in picture with me) and mom sold roasting chickens, eggs and preserved the produce from the garden for winter consumption. PURITY OF INNOCENCE If we cannot fathom the plight of the refugees we can relate to the suffering and death of a child.  Many children caught up in wars and are apart of a plan to escape do not understand the why of it all.  The PURITY OF INNOCENCE knows no hate, anger, deception and the like for their pureness has yet to be corrupted by evil.  They know fear and anxiety for the people around them cannot hide the danger that bites at their heels.  They know nothing of death they have so little time in life and yet death darkens their lives.  The families of these children protect them and shelter them as much as they can but the evil of wars knows no mercy, sees no innocence, and knows only the hatred that blackens their hearts.  It is because of this, decisions by families are made in hope for better place for their PURITY OF INNOCENCE leaving all behind, for nothing matters but the children. DIAMONDS FROM HEAVEN I come to realize every day the goodness and mercy of God.  The village I’ve been living in for the last five years has been in a drought for the last three and hopefully, the monsoon will not fail this area again this year.  It has been said the reason for the drought by some locals are the sins of the village.  I cannot begin to second guess God’s decision making process but I know this much God is compassionate and long suffering when it comes to the actions of His children.  As His children we tend to live the I/Me life excluding Him surly from our daily routine certainly when things are going our way.  We tend to lock into His realm of love when we suffer to long with the usually why me, or a cry for help.  The village has suffered while rain came to other surrounding towns and villages.  The clouds full of rain where blown by the wind beyond the village.  We did get a five or ten minute of rain on occasion u...

LIL DUDE The most important thing at this moment for this three year old is to be a COOL LIL DUDE.  He was not only COOL but had a neat swag when he moved along with sneakers that squeak and lit up.  He bought a smile to my face and a light hearted joy as he paraded around the shrine I visited this week.  It made me think this is what every child’s life should be COOL, free of worry and full of I-M-A-G-I-N-A-T-I-0-N as stated by one famous super star Sponge Bob Square Pants.  Every child has the  inalienable  right to be a child and live life as such full and playful. THE FIELDS ARE ALIVE We have been in a drought for the last two and half years in Tamil Nadu, India 2014 being the worst year thus far.  The rivers are dried completely as is the lakes.  Where the water once flowed so beautifully is now filled with bushes, tiger grass and has become the feeding place for cows and goats.   The bustling children enjoying the water as they splashed and played has become a desert silence.  The clothes being washed and spread out to dry are no more there is nothing but a wasteland.  The various migrating birds whom spent their winters in Southern India are but a fleeting memory of watching them and their antics while taking photographs.  The cat fish that were seemingly bigger than life are now gone and passed away. Suffering is never ending for those whom depend on water for their livelihood from the local shop keeper to the farmer.  These farmers lost three planting seasons of rice.  The stillness...

ENCAGING OF THE MIND BODY SPIRIT The dominance of one over another is so prevalent as our world turns.  I am not sure how wide spread is has been but the information highway informs it is a rampaged shove upon us.  In some places freedom allows for a check and balance system to hopefully nip in the bud any choking dominance of taking over our lives however, it is not true of all governments and countries around the word. The unknown causes concern, tension and worry, which can lead to panic, vigilantism, and separatism. Ebola is on its way down this slippery slope as was the first encounter with Aids. The world as a whole fails to help Africa readily until the disaster reaching their front door is eminent. Africa is a prime example of slow help especially since most of it hold no interest that is worth the risk or fight. The value of a black African life has little or no value in the eyes of most of the world especially in those who hold sway over African Government whom themselves are black. Ebola has been around as near as I can tell since 1976 with major out breaks in 2002 and 2003 and now here we are in 2014 no closer to understanding this disease that now plagues West Africa. Terrorism is the unofficial or unauthorized use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims and this generally how we all see the act of terrorism however, in thinking about this, one could come to the conclusion we are terrorists. Our weapon is not military hardware but our mouths which can spew out our hateful hearts. We do not behead however, we can imprison, torture, oppress, break down and even murder one’s spirit. Proverb 12:18a there is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword…is this us? Harsh words spewed from a hurtful heart can cause the otherwise strong to crumble under those words. Like a verbally abused child who tries to understand their wrongs while not seeing the wrong is not in them. The constant onslaught of verb terrorism eventually breaks the spirit of the child perhaps for the rest of their life; serving those problems that are never resolved because of their broken spirit. “All things are POSSIBLE with #God” a #scripture we say rather in a glib way when facing a challenge in a calling that is way beyond the human ability. It is a pat answer given by us to many times to spear head another to find the strength to take the cross before them and see the journey through to the end. “All things ARE possible with God” however, there is more to it then just quoting these words. These words are a reminder and NOT WORDS found at the surface. This quote has layers and layers of truth to all circumstances we are called to do by Our #Lord. These layers are tools to combat our worldly apprehension, physical limitless, the doubts about our ability to take the cross and carry it on the journey we are called to take.
