AFRICA...EBOLA
The unknown causes concern, tension and worry, which can lead to panic, vigilantism, and separatism. Ebola is on its way down this slippery slope as was the first encounter with Aids. The world as a whole fails to help Africa readily until the disaster reaching their front door is eminent. Africa is a prime example of slow help especially since most of it hold no interest that is worth the risk or fight. The value of a black African life has little or no value in the eyes of most of the world especially in those who hold sway over African Government whom themselves are black.
Ebola has been around as near as I can tell since 1976 with major out breaks in 2002 and 2003 and now here we are in 2014 no closer to understanding this disease that now plagues West Africa. The case to argue is why and the reasons may hinge in part on what I already mentioned.
I cannot understand why the UN and other Western Countries will not set up temporary shelter as seen for refugees for clinics to care for the victims of Ebola while waiting for more permanent clinics to be built. Ebola knows no prejudice in its crossing borders to ravage its citizens. No amount of precautions will keep us all safe except a vaccine to cure and working together in this fight however, in the meantime we must help the helpless who are dying like flies and children being orphaned and all at an alarming rate.
Already accusations and social media is causing panic with many untruths. Thomas Eric Duncan came to America for personal reasons contracted Ebola by helping a pregnant women in West Africa. He did not know she had Ebola, was misdiagnosed at first by a Texas hospital emergency room team after he revealed he came from West Africa. The test results did not show up until two days later after Thomas was in America that the woman he helped had Ebola. All of this lead to Thomas receiving possible life saving measures to late and the Texas local government looking to press criminal charges against him. Thomas Eric Duncan passed away a tragic loss to his family.
It is easy to live in our cocoon while ignoring the tragic suffering of others. How can we in our hearts look at the naked dying on the streets and not feel a twinge of compassion and ignore what is happening? Are we so concerned about me/I we cannot see the suffering of humanity? Are we not one family in God and all related by this fact?
If we become as heartless as to not recognize suffering at its core, hear the cry of suffering or smell death, their cry will find us blind and deaf to their plight.
