BLESSED FOUR DAYS
Blessed
four days
Anytime I end a Lent I am bless to be given knowledge in
our Lord’s direction for my life. I find
I can be off kilter in my direction in part because of impatience and my
prideful resolve I know or at least I think I know His plan which is generally
wrong. Thankfully I do not mess up His
Divine will as to shatter it but detour here and there. Our Lord knows how to reign me in and I am
fined tuned into hearing Him when I fast and block out the world as I did in
these last four days before Easter.
Prayer is the center of my life during the noises of the
world but it is in the quiet I hear Our Lord divorced of glaring injustices,
sadness, and heart-breaking stories about the abuse of children. There is religious intolerance and persecution
not to mention hatred all which crowds the heart and mind.
My time at POONDI MADHA BASILICA was truly miraculous in
many ways one I will share is meeting children who bought a quiet innocence to
my time in Poondi, happy hearts and sounds of their chatter and laughter. I visited the sisters from the convent always
a blessing and catching up on news about the work there. I also learned that stubbornness can be a
part of a 79 year old sister, I am especially close too. She has to wear a neck brace and the doctor
had to scold her for not wearing it. As
a retired Orthopedic nurse I gave her the list of consequences’ if she did not
wear it. She took my words with a
mischievous childlike smile and had it off the next time I saw her.
The faithful kept multiplying as we move into Easter Vigil;
Holy Thursday about 600 faithful, Good Friday around 1000 and vigil mass on
Saturday close to 2000. The photograph
taken on Good Friday is at the Fourth Station of the Cross, Jesus meets His
Mother. The children are from the Little Flower Orphanage, Sinna Rani Convent at
Mother’s Basilica. The children sang and read the readings and behind them was
the faithful.
OUR MOTHER BASILICA is my second home in India. I is more like visiting family then just
going to a shrine. I know I am welcomed
and loved how blessed am I.
