BLESSINGS FROM POONDI

Last week end I spent two days at my favorite retreat OUR LADY OF LOURDES BASILICA POONDI, South India and like every time I go there I experience a presence of God that surpasses all understanding with a grace, miracle and or blessing.  This time I was used as an instrument of God; this is what happen:

When I arrived at basilica I went to my room and outside the door of the next room was a man whose leg was bandaged up from the knee to his toes.  His face was all cut up actually he looked a mess.  I smiled at him but he just looked at me and so I went in my room.  The next day while sitting in my room with the door open a young women said hello and I invited her in.  She spoke a little English and my friend interpreted the rest for her and me.  She was the wife of the man next store and she told the story of what happen to him.  He was in a bad bike accident which caused the muscle in his calf of his leg to be crushed.  The doctors had to use the muscle from his thigh to repair the injured leg.  Needless to say he was in a lot of pain. 

The young wife who is Protestant was seeking prayers for her Hindu husband and a miracle.  They would be at the shrine for two days (same amount of days I was going to be there) for he was schedule to go into the hospital for further treatment.  I promised her I would pray for him and she left.  A few minutes later she passed my room on the way to buy a few things and I called her in.  I asked her would she mind if I bless her with special holy oil from the Infant Jesus Shrine she said it was OK.  I made a small cross on her head and prayed for her.  I told her I pray the rosary and Our Mother’s intercession never fails therefore, I asked she would like a rosary she did and later that day I purchased a rosary and a prayer book in Tamil. 

The next day after evening mass I saw the wife and gave her the rosary and prayer book.  After a short time I went to my room to have supper and outside was the husband and his wife.  I went to him and asked if he would mind if I prayed for him and he didn’t therefore, I gingerly laid my hand on his leg and prayed for God’s blessing and full recovery from his injuries. After I prayed asked if I could bless him and he said yes and I made a small cross on his head.  He smiled and I went to my room. 

The next day I say him and his wife getting ready to leave both of them said goodbye and my friend helped get him down the ramp in a wheelchair and into the cab.

MY COMMENTARY: 

It is a beautiful gift for three religious beliefs to come together in harmony and peace to petition God for a miracle healing and restoration through the miraculous prayers of His Mother.  I know the man will be healed the chain of events spoke loudly of the plan of God.

I did not go into a long why the rosary I left that to the prayers of Mother while entrusting it to God.  If the man refused the prayers he still would have gotten them in my private prayers.  We are always fighting about religion what one believes over another this little micro journey into harmony and peace between three religions shouId be a bench mark of hope we can get along without feeling threaten or demanding.   LET ALL GO AND LET GOD WORK.
