Mercy

I made notation to write on Mercy after Pope Francis announced this year starting on December 8, 2015 would be the Jubilee Year of MERCY.  I had seen the movie the Bucket List and thought this would be a great approach for enlighten of MERCY for us all using the traditional Corporal and Spiritual Works of MERCY.  However, like all blogs I pray and mull its direction over with Our Lord and He changed it.  The growing fears, prejudices, and decisions being made influenced by media and worldly views is muddying the waters of the teachings of Christ.  

First and foremost we are CHRISTIANS and espouse the word of Jesus Christ.  There is no fear in this deep spiritual relationship with Him.  He told us to take up our cross and follow Him and that road is treacherous to say the least especially in times such as these.  We cannot or should not put conditions on MERCY because of our feeling that goes against love of neighbor/love of enemies.  When Our Lord went to the cross He did not have a Bucket List of who He would die for He died for ALL mankind knowing full well how the world would be in this century.  We Christians are representatives of His in this world and we cannot claim we are Christians unless we ARE Christians in FAITH, TRUST, and know He will PROTECT us.   We are covered in His blood and this FAITH should not be compromised by our doubt in what we proclaim so readily in a secured environment.  We are called to love, prayer, suffering, sacrifice, and service to name a few.  We are called to be MERCIFUL as our Father has given us MERCY.  We cannot expect to receive the graces and blessing from God to horde unto ourselves in selfishness. 

There are many innocent who are in peril from wars, radical terrorists, and persecution of faith.  They are in fear of death and torture for themselves and their families and yet stand firm in their beliefs in refusing to succumb to entering into radical hatred.  There are the vulnerable, from the innocent child to the in firmed elderly and all others who in their suffering look to us Christians and proclaimed Christian Democratic Countries to come to their rescue granting asylum and a safe haven.  Take note of the countries they are NOT fleeing too.  Their direction has the HAND OF GOD calling them to Himself to His Children to CONVERSION.  Our mission is set before us the CONVERSION AND SALVATION OF SOULS.

   

Is this not what Christ did for us when He died on the cross granted us asylum and a safe haven to which we journey to Home Heaven.  Isn’t this great testimony to Christ’s MERCY to us a gift we must share as His heirs?  We have no excuse to not harbor MERCY in our hearts.  The Holy Spirits gifts and fruits has not one negative element.  Conversion of the world to Jesus Christ begins with the light of His word being seen in our actions not just in lip service. 

MERCY is one of those actions therefore, let this Jubilee Year of MERCY be the one of MERCY in its fullness. One that when stepping out of our comfort zone which, seems daunting but as we work through our fears, insecurities and prejudices in blind faith we do it in love and prayer. Our Lord will bless our efforts as WE PICK UP OUR CROSS AND FOLLOW HIM, singing His song of MERCY.
