I SURRENDER ALL TO YOu I look forward to my personal retreats at POONDI MADHA BASILICA and this last time I went was no exception.  To reach the Basilica in India is no easy task the roads are narrow in many places but the picturesque view of the river and dam site is breath taking.  The banana leaves in their richness of color shimmer in the sunlight and on occasion one can see a peacock.  Poondi is a classic retreat place the rooms have only bed, bathroom, ceiling fan, one chair and small table.  The distractions and comforts one might need are null and void after all one is there to reconnect with Our Lord uninterrupted by the noise, entertainment, and problems of one’s personal life or the world itself.  Even the food is plain and basic with few choices from the restaurant on campus.  There are no other options.  This time at Poondi is truly a time of prayer, mass, adoration, and confession.   As for myself although I have a d...

Walking to Velankanni to the #miraculous #Basilica of #Our-Lady of Good Health. There are various #Catholic faithful from all over #Tamil Nadu, India that walk upwards of about 300 Km. The ages are from the carried infants to the 90 years young. There are those who leave to be there for start of the nine day novena that ends on the Mother of God's birthday September 8th or those that pray the novena while walking and arrive the day before her birthday. This is a very #spiritual time of #praying including many #rosaries, singing, going to mass and fast of no meat. The miracles range from physical, #emotional and or spiritual for each who make this #pilgrimage. Many of the #faithful make this a regular pilgrimage showing their #love and #devotion to their MAMA .

SPIRITUAL LESSON This Sunday having 30 minutes to kill before I had to dress for mass I sat outside in the beauty of the morning sunlight.  As I sat there I was talking to Papa God in thanksgiving and bemoaning to Him a small problem for I am a firm believer in BUGGING our Lord in all things and circumstances.  As I was explaining my plight a mother with her son passed very slowly in front of my gate.  They were unaware I was sitting there.  What I saw and the lesson it taught me came within the 30 minutes. The mother was disheveled, dress tattered, and hair was stringy and dirty.  She carried a bag partially filled along with a walking stick.  Her emotionless face of suffering hid her age she looks old.  As she walks she was talking either to her son or to herself. Her son around 12 or 13 whose clothing was equally in disarray and dirty.  His curly black hair had long lost it shine and was dull and dusky.  He too had a...
